What Defines Me.
As a photographer, I have a deep appreciation for analog photography, specifically black and white. There's just something about the traditional development that adds a level of artistry and personal touch to each image that cannot be replicated digitally. The hands-on nature of film and organic look of the grain bring an extra level of engagement and intentionality to the creation of each photograph.
The Greek word "photos" meaning light and "graphé" meaning drawing or writing truly captures the essence of analog photography. The analog process, is all about capturing and preserving the light of a moment. And with black and white photography, the focus is placed on light and shadow. Analog photography has a timeless quality that cannot be replicated with digital cameras. The grain and imperfections of the film stock add unique character to the images. This level of intentionality and artistry is what sets analog photography apart and why I love it so much.
In a world where digital cameras have made photography more accessible than ever, it's important for me to remember the origins and beauty of analog photography. And that is why I will always have love and appreciation for the art of analog photography.
